Review: NYX "Parallel Worlds" Box Set

Hi everyone!

I recently purchased the NYX "Parallel Worlds" Box Set. I loved the theme and I thought it was a great deal, I bought it for half price at Ulta ($12.49).

The packaging fits the theme and I like that the cosmetics come in a reusable box.

What you see when you open the box.

The cosmetics come in this cute mesh black bag, another reusable item.

Includes a 6 color smokey palette, the perfect pink blush, a neutral pink matte lip cream, black liquid liner, a vibrant jumbo eye pencil, and volumizing mascara.

Everything you need to create an innocent day look inspired by Clary or a sultry night look inspired by Isabel. -Ulta

Here is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp. Although, I think this is a pretty pink, it does not really mesh well with the NYX Smokey palette. I would of liked to see a different shade to compliment the palette. It is a matte, so it does feel a little drying on the lips, you can add a light layer of lip balm before applying to help with this.

The NYX Studio Liquid Liner is okay. I am not a fan of this type of brush when applying liquid liner. I used it to go over another liner I applied on my eyes. I do like that it is a true black.

Here we have the NYX powder blush in Pinched. This is a highly pigmented blush and a little goes a long way, so lightly dab it on and blend out. It's a dark pink shade and I think it would look good on all skin tones.

The NYX Le Frou Frou Volume + Length mascara did not really deliver my first time using it. Maybe this is a mascara that needs to dry out a bit. I added another mascara on top of it for my desired look.

I really liked the NYX Smokey palette. I used it to create a Fall look and it's pigmented but definitely not Urban Decay pigmented and the shades have a pretty shimmer. It came with a double ended brush but I tend to use my own brushes. Again, I think these shades would compliment everyone. I like that you can create a day to night look with the shades they selected. There is a bit of fallout due to the shimmer but nothing too bad. They also have more of a neutral palette available.

This is the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cashmere. I used this as a base for my eye shadow and I loved the results. You can also highlight the inner corners of your eyes with it for a pretty glow or use it on your brow bone.

Swatches of the eye pencil, blush and lip cream.
